Unieuro, the leading distributor of consumer electronics and household appliances in Italy, has launched the educational campaign “Dispose Well to Destroy Less”, aimed at informing and raising consumer awareness about the correct disposal of WEEE and encouraging increased collection.

The initiative involved an initial research phase, conducted in collaboration with Adiconsum (Consumer Protection Association) and the Piepoli Institute (an independent research company founded in 1965), to investigate the level of knowledge of WEEE and the correct disposal methods among consumers.

The 1,000 interviews, conducted on a representative sample of the Italian population, revealed significant data: the results show that the majority of respondents (64%) are aware of the risks associated with the incorrect disposal of WEEE, while 76% want to receive more information on how to properly manage this waste and the benefits for the environment. A particularly interesting fact is that 92% of respondents stated that they would be more inclined to dispose of WEEE correctly if they were provided with more information about collection points in their city.Despite the growing interest in the topic, the survey highlights an “information gap” especially regarding knowledge of the correct disposal methods, which hinders efficient management of WEEE.

Despite the growing interest in the topic, the survey highlights an “information gap” especially regarding knowledge of the correct disposal methods, which hinders efficient management of WEEE.

The “Dispose Well to Destroy Less” campaign promoted by Unieuro and disseminated in stores through supporting POP materials such as posters, informative leaflets, in-store TV and radio, aims to bridge this gap, raising awareness and encouraging the correct disposal of WEEE by leveraging some of the company’s most important values: trust in responsible innovation and a commitment to providing accurate information to its customers.
